I needed to get a suit cleaned in my new local dry cleaners today. I went to the shop with my suit and the following ensued..
So there you have it, we live in an age of Identity theft and your local "Pressed 4 Time" Dry cleaners want all your details so that you can get your clothes dry cleaned. For feck sake if this happens to you do not give your information for free.

Hey Blacksheep, you are really taking this personal info serious. My local dry cleaner, like my local chinese, indian, italian, kebab, takeaways operate with my phone number & my address and that is all.
If he insists to fill out the rest of teh information reply with 'Pass' or 'Blank' all can be filled in on these computer forms with compulsory fields. Don't shoot the messanger.

Cantheman, my information is exactly that "my information" its mine, I will offer my information to those that I chose too, I will not buy a service, be it a dry clean, or a kebab, that means that I need to give "my personal information" .
I pay my money for the service that I recieve, I d'ont need for them to know where I live, what my telephone is or what my email address is. Its my life and its my money, I will return if they fulfill their part of the contract

I'm with Blacksheep on this, I d'ont want my information to be known by anyone.
Can I just say something, there are millions of forums out there and I'm hoping that this website is'nt going to be a forum. If it is I'm gone. Simple

The interesting thing here is Pressed 4 Time haven't put the customer first - and I just hate when that happens - in fact, I just walk.
The last time something similar happened to me was in a restraunt near Victoria Station. It was early evening, mid-week, and the place was virtually empty. Myself and Jayne took a four seater near the wall. The waitress came along and said we would have to move in case four people arrived. I gestured at the empty room and said there was loads of space, but she wasn't having it. "Fine", I said, and we did move - to another restraunt.
Mainly as being in a very bad (grrrrr) mood yesterday, I would have just walked out of Pressed 4 Time but CanTheMan is also right to adopt a play the f**kers at their own game attitude.
That said, companies should have a privacy policy and if they are holding information they should be registered under the data protection act. If they are not, then you should press (no pun!) the brakes before passing out your details.
On a lighter note - can you imagine getting a monthly newsletter from Pressed 4 Time? I'm sure we would all be interested to read the content - any suggestions as to what it would contain??
